Biography

-Biography (Polish direct translation, ‘Class/Level’ refers to Polish Qualifications)

-  He is a glider plane pilot, has done over 250 hours in the air. He received ‘Second Class/Level in Glider Plane Pilot’

-  He received:

•  ‘Third Class/Level’ in sky diving, doing 14 jumps

•  Gold Class/Level in Road Cycling

•  Helmsman Qualifications with Extended Sea Permissions

•  All existing Polish Kayaking Qualifications (‘Przodownik’ PTTK 1 Class, Instructor PZK, IRR in kayaking)

•  Gold Award with International Canoe Federation

-  In 2003 and 2004 he received Gold Medal for wining Polish White Water Kayaking Championships, and also Team Gold together with his two sons

-  In 1989 he paddled across Poland from Przemysl (South East Corner) to Swinoujscie (North West Corner, Baltic Sea) between 1st and 13th April, totalling 1189 km (739 miles)

-  Also in 1989 he smashed the Polish and German record for doing 5125 km (3185 miles) in a single year, working full time using only 26 holiday days. That included only 125 km (78 miles) on waters he has paddled before. 5000 km (3106 miles) was on waters he paddled for the first time. In that year he was on the water for 108 days - that’s almost every third day in a kayak and totally new waters to him. That is a standing record!

-  In 1991 he was the first kayaker after Second World War to have paddled river Nysa Luzycka from the place where three borders meet, that of Poland, Germany and Czechoslovakia (Now Czech Republic)

-  He was the first kayaker and third Polish floating boat after the Second World War to have paddled along the Polish border through Pilawska Channel near Baltijsk and into Elblag and Gdynia

-  The only kayaker to have paddled the whole length of river Wisla (Vistula)

-  The major expedition he has done:

-  ‘Round Trip from Police to Police, through Germany and around Denmark’ - 1998 57 days, 2719 km (1690 miles)

-  ‘Round Trip from Police to Police, Circumnavigating The Baltic Sea’ - 1999, 80 days, 4227 km (2627 miles)

-  ‘Kayak past the Polar Circle, From Police to Narvik (Norway)’ - 2000, 101 days, 5369 km (3336 miles)

-  ‘Circumnavigating the Baikal Lake (Russia)’ - 2009, 41 days, 1954 km (1214 miles)
