Me Olek - The Man

Aleksander Doba born on 9th September 1946 - Polish traveller, kayaker and explorer. He was the first to circumnavigate The Baltic Sea and Baikal Lake. Also he was the first to paddle the entire length of Polish coast both ways. He managed to win twice Polish Championships of White Water Kayaking. Altogether he paddled over 64000 km (40000 miles). That includes both inland and open sea kayaking.

He graduated Poznan University of Technology. He has taken up kayaking in 1980. In 1999 he received international award ‘Conrady’ in ‘sailing’ for circumnavigating the Baltic Sea. In 2010 he received a prestigious award given for the biggest travelling achievements  in that year called ‘Zlote Stopy’ (Golden Feet).

Aleksander Doba worked in a Chemical Factory in Police town. He is married to Gabriela and has two sons: Bartlomiej and Czeslaw. The former, his elder son together with his wife Kasia made him a granddad to Ola.
